The Sunday Times (London, UK) claims that its undercover investigation shows Japan bribed officials from six small governments with cash and prostitutes to influence their votes on the International Whaling Commission (IWC).

Israeli soldiers attacked a flotilla of aid-carrying ships early Monday in international waters off the coast of the Gaza Strip. Ten people were reportedly killed on board and twenty others wounded,when troops from the Israeli Defense Force raided the six-ship convoy. Dubbed the Freedom Flotilla, the convoy carried 700 passengers from thirty countries bringing 10,000 tons of humanitarian aid to the impoverished Palestinian city of Gaza.

When she came to speak at New York University, she packed the room. It might have been the weirdest crowd I’d ever seen at an Islamic Center at NYU event. (Okay, “weird” is likely too strong—how about odd?) One half of the room were comic book fans who had probably never attended an event hosted by a Muslim institution, and the other half were Muslims awkwardly admitting to themselves and the world that they loved comic books.
