Israeli soldiers attacked a flotilla of aid-carrying ships early Monday in international waters off the coast of the Gaza Strip. Ten people were reportedly killed on board and twenty others wounded,when troops from the Israeli Defense Force raided the six-ship convoy. Dubbed the Freedom Flotilla, the convoy carried 700 passengers from thirty countries bringing 10,000 tons of humanitarian aid to the impoverished Palestinian city of Gaza.

Most weeknights since March 8, 21-year-old college senior Alia Dahhan has rushed home to tune in to "El Clon" to watch her favorite character Jade on the Spanish-speaking network Telemundo. "As a Muslim woman, I feel it is almost a duty to watch the show, not only for entertainment purposes but to be able to discuss my opinions with other non-Muslim and non-Arab viewers of the show," said Dahhan, who attends Pace University's Lubin School of Business in New York and is president of the Muslim Student Association at the university.

When she came to speak at New York University, she packed the room. It might have been the weirdest crowd I’d ever seen at an Islamic Center at NYU event. (Okay, “weird” is likely too strong—how about odd?) One half of the room were comic book fans who had probably never attended an event hosted by a Muslim institution, and the other half were Muslims awkwardly admitting to themselves and the world that they loved comic books.

It’s amazing that David Gardner and Christopher Caldwell both write for The Financial Times. Caldwell’s Reflections on the Revolution in Europe: Immigration, Islam, and the West makes the reader feel more like his wearied psychologist than anything else.
