Jews, Christians and Muslims prayed together as regional Sufi leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bukhari was laid to rest in his home in Old City Jerusalem. On June 1 he passed away at the age of 61, after a long struggle with heart disease.

Red Cross Trains Taliban in First Aid

The International Committee of the Red Cross is in Afghanistan teaching the Taliban basic first aid and giving them medical equipment. The ICRC's situation report revealed that its workers assisted "over 100 Afghan security personnel, over 70 members of the armed opposition, taxi drivers involved in the transport of wounded people, first-aiders and its own staff" in April.

This year, 30 young faith leaders combined efforts to eradicate deaths due to malaria worldwide. Hafsa Arain, a Muslim and Tim Brauhn, a Roman Catholic, teamed up in the San Francisco Bay Area for this purpose. They are one of 15 faith pairs who took action in 12 major cities throughout the United States, Canada and UK. We spoke with Arain to learn how she became involved with this multi-faith action program.

A recent civil lawsuit filed by the United States Securities and Exchange commission alleges that Goldman Sachs “misled investors who bought a mortgage-related instrument known as Abacus 2007-AC1 by not disclosing that the security was devised to fail,” reported the New York Times.

The No Fly List controversy takes off once again with a lawsuit filed by Rahinah Ibrahim who was arrested upon her arrival in San Francisco at a United Airlines ticket counter five years ago. It turned out to be a case of false positive but Ms. Ibrahim who was a Stanford doctoral student, decided to sue.
